Ford XB Falcon Gets a Bangin’ LED Headlight Upgrade
Coops’ stunning Ford XB Falcon Coupe has received a modern lighting upgrade thanks to Bangin’ Headlights.
As one of the winners of our second Bangin’ Headlights giveaway, Coops scored a set of 7-inch curved-glass LED projector headlights for his classic XB.
LED vs H4 Halogen Headlights
The XB’s existing lighting made night driving difficult, so George and Phil swapped the old setup for the new LED headlights.
We also compared the LEDs directly against a traditional H4 halogen conversion.
The difference was impressive. The LEDs produced a brighter, wider and more controlled beam, while also using considerably less power.
In our test, the LED setup drew less than 14 watts, compared with more than 60 watts from the H4 halogen setup.
The curved-glass design also helps retain the classic appearance of the XB while providing the benefits of modern LED lighting.
A Tough 351 Cleveland XB Falcon
The headlights aren’t the only thing worth checking out on Coops’ XB.
Under the bonnet is a 351 Cleveland V8 with 2V alloy heads and a Comp Cam, backed by a C4 automatic and nine-inch diff.
Other highlights include:
- Three-inch stainless exhaust
- 31-spline axles
- Custom Simmons wheels
- Massive 315 Mickey Thompson rear tyres
It’s a tough combination that suits the unmistakable shape of the Ford XB Falcon Coupe perfectly.
Would You Upgrade to LED Headlights?
For classic-car owners, LED headlights can provide much better nighttime visibility without necessarily taking away from the traditional appearance of the car.
