Cleveland V8 Cortina Sleeper & 1923 Ford T-Bucket at Cleveland Spares

In this episode of Aussie Garage, we return to Cleveland Spares in Victoria to catch up with Cass and Rob and check out two very special builds.

The first is a Mk2 Ford Cortina sleeper with a Cleveland V8. The plan is to remove the drag-car look, fit standard-style wheels, add a flat bonnet and make it look like a basic old Cortina.

But underneath, it will be hiding the Cleveland V8 that was previously used in Rob’s XC Falcon. From the outside it will look grandpa-spec, but once it starts, everyone will know it is something very different.

A Historic 1923 Ford T-Bucket

We also take a look at an incredible steel-bodied 1923 Ford T-Bucket.

Originally built in Victoria in 1968, this hot rod was pulled apart and stored away for decades. It has now been pieced back together using most of its original parts.

The car still features its Ford Y-block engine, three-speed Top Loader, nine-inch diff and chrome suspension components.

It is a great example of Australian hot rod history being saved and brought back to life.

Cass and Rob also share updates from Cleveland Spares, including their growing parts range, local cruise nights and classic Ford projects.

Ultimate Collector’s Dream: Garage Tour At Cleveland Spares – Part 2.

On todays episode we do the full Cleveland Spares shed collection tour, and then we have a look at what’s out in the yard. This is Part 2 of the Aussie Garage Interview with Cleveland Spares in Melbourne. This place is a feast for the sensors, you find yourself surrounded by Aussie muscle cars, advertising signs, old petrol bowsers, 80’s BMX bikes, and so much more. But its the cars that are the stars of the show. First we look at Rob’s XW Ford Falcon GT, its a factory Windsor engine and Top loader car and is in great original condition. But as we know Rob loves to get a bit more go in his cars so it has a hottie motor and auto in it at the moment.

Then we have a look at Cass’s XC Ford Falcon GXL or “a hamburger with the lot” as Rob called it. It has a factory sunroof 351 engine, its a factory 9 inch tramp rod car and it was there family car back in the day. This is when we entered the GM section, Rob has an interest in all cars not just Fords so he shows us his 57 Chevy, HX Holden Sandman tribute and a 1967 Chevy Camaro SS . There is also a Holden Monaro there but we will talk to Cass about that later. After that, its the Hot Rod collection.

We start with an Model A Roadster that he bought with his dad, it has a really nice old school rod feel to it. There is also a 41 Willies that is being done to be a nostalgic drag car with a 454 big block. then there’s a 1940 Ford Truck that he has put on a late 70’s Hilux chassis, its been set up for a small block Chev and turbo 400. And the last thing inside is his F100 shop truck that is way to nice to use as a shop truck. Then we hit the yard. there is some interesting things out there. Like a XY with flared guards, grafted Mustang rear end Mustang cut outs in the sides, XB dash graft and heaps of other mods. Just a stripped shell now it used to be a show car in the 70’s or 80’s.

There is also a genuine XW Ford Falcon GT with its tags. It was filled end for end back in the day and then was stripped. But Rob is thinking about weather it can be brought back to life. There is also various cars for sale. This really was an awesome collection of cars and memorabilia.

We Saved The Best till Last – Aussie Coupes at Cleveland Spares

Okay, we up to Part 3 of Cleveland Spares Car Collection in Melbourne and today is about the Coupes and Hardtops. So let’s kick it off with Rob as his XA Ford Falcon GS Hardtop (Coupe). So Rob owns the original number matching XA Ford Falcon GS K Code 351 Engine in Yellow Glow paint, factory Sunroof and white trim. He has been restoring this to Factory Specs at present. Now Rob brought this car off a friend about 10 – 12 years ago and it was in shell state when he go it. He was sitting in mate shed after he stripe in 1986 and left sitting there for ages. So Rob brought it with all the parts and started do a full restoration XA Ford Falcon GS Hardtop. Now Rob had loads of issues restoring this XA Ford include he hardtop going missing from paint shop. He almost even sold a few times because issue but he glad he never has and it remains in the family collection. The engine bay in the XA Ford Falcon GS looks very standard 351 k code but it has a 500 horsepower engine with 9″ diff with trutrac. The interior XA Ford Falcon was restored back factory specs and it looks fantastic. Now, let check out this awesome car that Cass chased down from the previous owner. Now Cass’s Brother found this car whilst working on a the property next door to this HK Holden Monaro GTS Coupe. Now this HK Monaro was sitting in a paddock with moss all over it. Now Cass chased this owner down for a whole year before he agreed to sell it to her. Now that have, Rob and Cass are restoring this to it former glory. They have restored the paint to factory colour and the outside of the HK Holden Monaro GTS Coupe. They are going to put a 383 Chevy Big Block Engine and Trans, plus they will upgrade the diff to a Ford 9″ Diff to manage the the performance of the engine. However, this is going to one stunning HK Holden Monaro GTS Coupe once finished. Thanks to Rob and Cass at Cleveland Spares for showing us your car collection and garage art.
