At Aussie Garage, we are privileged to share heartwarming stories that showcase the passion and camaraderie of the car community. Today, we bring you an inspiring tale of resilience, generosity, and the love of classic cars as we sit down with Carol to discuss her FJ Holden project. Joining us are Kevin and Lynette from Show N Shine Panel & Paint, who have stepped up to help Carol realize her dream.
Carol’s Passion for Cars and Her FJ Holden Project
Carol, a familiar face at car events across Western Australia, has been capturing the essence of these gatherings through her photography and videos. Her dedication is purely driven by her passion for cars and the vibrant community around them. However, Carol’s journey has been anything but easy.
Carol’s FJ Holden has a deep personal significance. Purchased from her uncle before relocating to South Australia, the car has become a symbol of her connection to family and the automotive world. Unfortunately, Carol’s declining health, including major nerve damage, diabetes, and auto-immune disease that mimics Leukemia, so she is on weekly chemo drugs. So she is unable to work and her health is rapidly declining. has made it impossible for her to complete the restoration herself. Despite these challenges, her love for cars remains steadfast.
The Generosity of Show N Shine Panel & Paint
Kevin and Lynette from Show N Shine Panel & Paint have known Carol for three years and were moved by her story. Eager to give back to the community that has supported their business, they took on the challenge of restoring Carol’s FJ Holden. Starting with a complete strip back to bare metal, Kevin has transformed the car with a stunning jet-black paint job. This labor of love reflects not only their skill but also their commitment to helping a fellow enthusiast.
Challenges and a Call for Support
Despite the remarkable progress, the project has hit a few hurdles. Key areas requiring assistance include:
- Wiring harness installation
- Interior trim and hood lining
- Air conditioning installation to accommodate Carol’s health needs
Dan from Vision Trim Shop has generously offered his time to work on the hood lining and review the trim. While volunteers have stepped forward to help, more support is needed to complete the restoration in time for Carol to enjoy driving her beloved car.
