With a record-breaking 42 derby cars entered, the event was packed with huge crashes, exploding exhausts, massive hits, and nonstop action from start to finish. From tough old Volvos and battered Camrys to Mazdas, Peugeots, and wild custom builds, the track turned into complete chaos within minutes.

One of the standout builds was the Lego-themed Volvo, while another crowd favourite paid tribute to Aussie racing legend Peter Brock. Every car had its own personality, and every hit had the crowd cheering.

We also caught up with some awesome people from the WA car scene including Old School Only, Down in the Shed with Byron, Shane’s Shed and plenty of passionate competitors working hard in the pits throughout the day.

A big highlight of the event was seeing three generations of one family competing together, showing just how strong the Demo Derby community still is in WA motorsport.

After all the crashes, breakdowns and brutal last-man-standing action, Joe managed to take first place in an unforgettable final battle.

MotorEx 2026 Day 2 delivered non-stop action, incredible custom cars, massive crowds, and some unforgettable moments from Street Machine Custom World. Aussie Garage was right in the middle of it all, bringing you closer to the builds, the owners, and the atmosphere that makes MotorEx one of Australia’s biggest automotive events.

From elite show cars and engineered street machines to LMCT+ Portelli World and the iconic VU FOR U Commodore giveaway car, this episode had something for every car enthusiast.

If you love Holden, Ford, tough street cars, horsepower, fabrication, and Aussie car culture, this was one of the standout days of the entire event.

Inside Street Machine Custom World

Walking through Street Machine Custom World was next level. Everywhere you looked there were incredible builds featuring flawless paintwork, polished engine bays, custom fabrication, huge horsepower, and serious attention to detail.

The Elite Hall was packed with some of the toughest cars in Australia, with owners proudly showing off years of hard work and dedication. Aussie Garage caught up with several builders to hear the stories behind these amazing machines.

LS-Powered LJ Torana Steals Attention

One of the standout builds was an incredibly tough LS-powered LJ Torana. Combining classic Holden styling with modern V8 performance, this little weapon drew huge crowds all weekend.

The aggressive stance, detailed engine bay, and clean presentation made it one of the highlights inside the hall. It perfectly represented modern Aussie street machining — classic looks mixed with serious horsepower.

Tough 600HP XR Falcon Build

Ford fans were treated to an impressive XR Falcon producing around 600 horsepower. The car blended old-school Falcon styling with modern performance upgrades to create a seriously tough street machine.

With immaculate bodywork, a clean engine bay, and a killer stance, this Falcon showed exactly why classic Aussie Fords remain so popular.

Jet Black HK Monaro GTS Monster

Few cars stop people in their tracks like a properly built HK Monaro GTS, and this jet black monster certainly did that.

Featuring a tubbed rear end, aggressive styling, and flawless detailing, this Monaro was one of the toughest Holdens on display at MotorEx 2026. Every inch of the build showcased elite craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Stunning Tango Orange XB Coupe

Another crowd favourite was the beautifully restored XB Coupe finished in a striking Tango Orange colour scheme.

The combination of classic Falcon coupe styling and vibrant paintwork made this car impossible to miss. The restoration quality was exceptional and perfectly captured the spirit of Australian muscle car culture.

Historic Toyota Race Replica

Adding something different to the mix was a historic Toyota race replica that brought plenty of nostalgia to the event.

The car paid tribute to classic motorsport history while showcasing incredible attention to detail throughout the build. It was a reminder that MotorEx is about more than just horsepower — it is also about celebrating automotive history and passion.

LMCT+ Portelli World Brings Huge Energy

One of the busiest sections of the event was Portelli World from LMCT+, attracting massive crowds throughout the weekend.

The Aussie Garage crew captured the atmosphere, including the famous kiss moments that fans always talk about. The energy around the LMCT+ area showed just how big the brand has become within the Australian car scene.

From giveaways and exclusive cars to entertainment and fan interaction, Portelli World added another exciting layer to the MotorEx experience.

Back in 1965, Ford Australia had something to prove.

Earlier Falcon models had taken a hit when it came to reliability on rough Aussie roads. So instead of talking about improvements — Ford decided to prove it.
