Custom Turbo Fabrication by Lurch’s Custom Fabrication

At Lurch’s Custom Fabrication, precision is everything. Their workshop has built a reputation across Perth for crafting high-performance components with outstanding attention to detail. For the Turbo Cortina, Lurch is fabricating the custom pipework connecting the turbo, intercoolers, and intake manifold — ensuring maximum airflow, boost efficiency, and reliability.

Lurch’s team are also experts in integrating engine sensors and performing precision aluminium welding, crucial for the turbo system and cooling setup. Every weld, bracket, and pipe is designed to perform under serious pressure — making this Turbo Cortina a true street and track weapon.

Next Stop: AJ’s Mods for Wiring, Exhaust, and Finishing Touches

Once the custom fabrication phase was complete, the Cortina rolled over to AJ’s Mods for the next stage of the build. AJ’s Mods will handle the rewiring of the car, the custom exhaust setup, and a few minor repairs to get everything ready for the engine install.

The 250 Crossflow Engine Build

Under the bonnet, the heart of this build is a Ford 250 Crossflow engine, currently being rebuilt for turbo performance. Once the engine returns from the rebuilders, it will be fitted into the Cortina — completing one of the most exciting Aussie Garage project cars yet.

This combination of classic Aussie styling and modern turbocharged power will make the Turbo Cortina Roll Racer Project one to watch, both on the street and at the track.

Interview with Bad Q Garage

In this episode, we sit down with Dave from @BadQGarage, who has been flat out covering car events all across WA. Between filming, editing, and attending shows, it’s impossible to get to everything – but he’s been doing an awesome job bringing the WA car scene to life on his channel.

Dave also gave us some updates on his car projects:

• Bad Q Holden Monaro GTS Coupe – his pride and joy.
• Bad J HJ Holden Premier Sedan – finished in metallic purple with bright yellow accents on the diff, fuel tank, and engine bay, giving it a “Violet Crumble” look.
• VN Holden Calais & VR Holden Commodore – recent additions to his growing collection, made easier thanks to his new car trailer (which might be enabling his addiction – but aren’t we all the same?).

Dave also spoke about his international car spotting, with fascinating finds in Thailand, including VL Holden Calais, HQ Holden Monaro GTS, and even a blown HQ Holden Sedan. His passion for researching the Holden legacy in Asia adds a unique perspective to his channel.

Aussie Garage Updates – VU for U Revival Project

On the Aussie Garage side, we’ve been busy with several projects, but the biggest one right now is the VU for U Revival. This is a VU Holden Commodore Ute that was originally a Street Machine Giveaway Car at Summernats 17 in 2004.

We’re reviving this iconic ute for its current owner, who is battling stage 4 terminal cancer. Our mission is to get the car running and driving so he can enjoy it one last time before it’s sold to help fund medical costs. If enough funds remain, he hopes to buy a steel bumper classic car to enjoy until he no longer can.

This project is deeply personal and a reminder to all of us: life is short – make the most of it, and always get regular check-ups if something doesn’t feel right.
