Where It All Began

It all started in a backyard shed. Vince, along with his wife Marion, laid the foundation of American Auto Parts as a part-time gig alongside his towing business. His love for classic American cars — particularly the iconic Mustang — was sparked by a unique opportunity: in the 60s, an American military base in Exmouth brought over a wave of American cars. Vince saw their potential and began sourcing Mustangs from Exmouth, restoring them and reselling them to fellow enthusiasts in Perth.

As the Exmouth supply dried up, Vince expanded his network across Australia, eventually connecting with importers and growing the business into a Mustang powerhouse. But he didn’t stop there — along with two others, Vince began manufacturing hard-to-find parts for the legendary XW and XY Falcons, becoming a key distributor of Ford parts nationwide.

A Family Affair

Enter Paul — Vince’s son, born just a year before the business was founded. It’s safe to say the garage grease runs in his veins. As a kid, he was often more interested in what was happening in the workshop than in his homework. He vividly remembers customers showing up at all hours, giving him a front-row seat to the hustle of small business life.

After school, Paul pursued a mechanic’s apprenticeship at a Ford dealership but never strayed far from the family business. Over the years, Paul and Vince have built numerous cars together, bonding over their shared passion for Mustangs. Today, Paul plays a major role in American Auto Parts and continues to drive the business forward — with the same dedication and enthusiasm as his father.

A Living Legacy

From humble beginnings in a backyard shed to a bustling shopfront in Booragoon, the journey of Vince and Paul is a testament to hard work, passion, and a deep love for the motoring community.
