Ford Model A Hot Rod with a 1966 Buick Nailhead V8
What started as a bent and rusted Ford Model A shell is now a stunning custom hot rod powered by a lumpy 1966 Buick Nailhead V8.
Aussie Garage caught up with owner Jason at Cleveland Spares to check out this incredible build. After eight years of work, the transformation is impressive.
Buick Nailhead V8 Power
Under the bonnet is a rebuilt 1966 Buick Nailhead V8, backed by a Turbo 400 automatic transmission.
Power is sent through a shortened Ford nine-inch differential, giving the Model A a tough and reliable drivetrain.
The car sits on a reproduction 1932 Ford chassis with a SoCal-style front end. It also uses a reversed HK–HT Holden steering box for its side-steer setup.
Modern Paint Meets Traditional Hot Rod Style
One of the standout features is the paint.
The colour comes from the 2022 Ford Bronco range and changes appearance depending on the lighting.
Inside, Jason has kept plenty of traditional hot rod character. The build features an exposed timber roof, custom steel door panels and vintage-inspired details throughout.
Eight Years in the Making
Turning a damaged and rusted Model A shell into this beautifully finished hot rod took around eight years.
