Among the many gearheads and dreamers that make up the Aussie Garage community, one followers, Max has embarked on a heartfelt mission that we reckon deserves a louder voice. He’s on the hunt for a piece of family history — his grandfather’s beloved 1969 Mach 1 Mustang.
Here’s the story:
“I’m looking for my pop’s 1969 Mach 1 Mustang. I thought of it recently after my mum got engaged to my now stepdad. I reckon Pop would be stoked for them both — he loved Mum so much, and I just had this feeling like… if I could find his old Mustang, it’d be like having a part of him at the wedding. He sold the car when Mum was born — his biggest regret. If I could track it down or even just hire one just like it for the big day, I feel like he’d be there with us, y’know?” This is the only photo I have of her.
It was sold out of Nar Nar Goon, Victoria around 1978-1980
Ps: it was raced in Dandenong once by my Nan to teach some cocky Streeter’s a lesson. She left ‘em behind! Uncles were in the back seat too!
This isn’t the first time he’s tried to find the car — it’s his third go at it — but this time he’s reaching out to the Aussie Garage community to spread the word far and wide.

- Colour: Acapulco Blue with white stripes on the bonnet
- Interior: Black
- Steering: Right-hand drive
- Number Plate (at the time): VIC plates, KTD-981
