Eddie’s 1957 Buick Super: A Classic Rebuilt from the Ground Up

At Aussie Garage, we get to see a lot of tough builds and classic restorations—but few stand out like Eddie’s 1957 Buick Super. Featured in our latest episode, this isn’t just any old American import; it’s a show-winning, fully customised classic that turns heads wherever it goes.

Eddie originally brought the Buick Super into Western Australia as a roller—just a shell with a pile of parts. From there, he set to work rebuilding it from the ground up. What started as a basic project car has become one of the cleanest ’57 Buicks on Aussie soil.

It’s not just the quality of the restoration that stands out—it’s the details. Eddie tackled a full bodywork restoration, fitted custom trim, and finished the car in a flawless two-tone wine red paint job, personally chosen to suit the Buick’s curves and classic lines.

Under the hood, things get serious. Eddie rebuilt a 500 Cadillac V8 engine, giving this cruiser the grunt to match its looks. Air Ride suspension adds that perfect low-slung stance, while a fully custom exhaust system routed through the rear bumper finishes it off with style. And yes, that rear bumper is no joke—it takes three people just to fit it, thanks to all the chrome involved.

All of Eddie’s hard work paid off when he entered the Buick into the WA Hot Rod Show at Claremont, where it took home the People’s Choice Award for Best Custom & Classic Car of the Day. A well-deserved win for a truly standout build.

If Eddie’s name sounds familiar, it might be because you’ve seen him on Aussie Garage before. We featured him in an earlier episode with the Australian Street Machine Association, discussing a petition aimed at returning engineering sign-off powers to the engineers themselves—rather than leaving it all in the hands of the WA Department of Transport.

That conversation is far from over. Stay tuned for Part 2 of this video, where we’ll dive deeper into how these changes could impact muscle car and custom car owners across WA.

In the meantime, make sure to check out Eddie’s 1957 Buick Super in action on our latest Aussie Garage episode. It’s a build that truly speaks for itself.
