Welcome back to Part 2 of our coverage from Waroona All Australian Car Day 2026, one of Western Australia’s biggest car shows.

With more than 500 vehicles on display, the event featured everything from classic Holdens and Fords to hot rods, Cobras, panel vans, street machines, customs and vintage classics.

One of the highlights of this episode is a stunning Cobra replica powered by a Dart 363 stroker V8 and six-speed transmission. We also check out some incredible Monaros, Falcons, Escorts, award-winning show cars and a range of unique automotive builds from around WA.

Along the way you’ll see Variety Bash vehicles, speedway race cars, the latest additions to the Sundowner van collection and some beautifully restored classics that showcase the passion of the Australian car community.

Waroona once again delivered a fantastic day for enthusiasts, families and car clubs, with hundreds of amazing vehicles filling the grounds from end to end.

The Aussie Garage crew recently caught up with Ann and Anton to check out their impressive new custom-built shed and their latest restoration project – a largely original 1979 Holden VB Commodore.

After completing their HQ One Tonner build, the pair were ready for a new challenge. Their goal is to restore the VB the old-school way, keeping as much of its original character as possible while tackling rust repairs, mechanical work and period-correct styling.

A Shed Built for Classic Cars

The new workshop is every enthusiast’s dream, featuring a huge shed extension, a brand-new 4-post hoist and plenty of room for future projects. It’s also packed with automotive memorabilia, vintage tools and family treasures that make the space truly unique.

More Than Just a Commodore

During our visit we also checked out:

• A future Holden 253 V8 engine build
• Ann’s beautifully restored 1970 Honda QA50 minibike
• Rare automotive and family memorabilia
• Future plans for a Holden Statesman restoration

From Humble Beginnings to High-Performance Machine

The Ford Anglia started life as a simple, small-capacity vehicle powered by a tiny side-valve engine. Like many cars of its era, it was built for practicality — not performance.

Fast forward to today, and this Anglia is anything but ordinary. Sitting under the bonnet is a 2.9L quad cam Cosworth V6, turning this once modest car into a serious performance machine pushing around 300 horsepower.

This kind of transformation doesn’t happen overnight — and in this case, it didn’t. The journey of this car has evolved over decades, with multiple stages of modification and refinement along the way.

The Heart of the Build – Cosworth V6 Power

At the core of this build is the legendary Cosworth V6 engine, a rare and highly respected performance engine known for its power and engineering pedigree.

Swapping this into a 1948 Anglia is no simple task. It required:

• Extensive custom fabrication
• Engine bay modifications
• Custom mounts and driveline integration
• Upgraded cooling and supporting systems

The result is a perfect blend of old-school styling with modern performance — a true sleeper with serious bite.

Custom Chassis, Suspension and Engineering

This build goes far beyond just an engine swap. The entire car has been reworked to handle the power and improve drivability.

One of the standout upgrades is the integration of a Jaguar rear end, giving the Anglia improved stability and handling characteristics.

Additional engineering highlights include:

Earlier in its life, the car even ran Toyota Corolla running gear, showing just how much it has evolved over time. Every stage of the build has pushed it further toward what it is today — a fully realised custom machine.

Inside, the Anglia continues to impress with a thoughtful combination of retro styling and modern technology.

The interior has been carefully designed to maintain the car’s vintage character while improving comfort and usability. Expect to find:

Market stalls added an extra layer of fun for families and visitors, proving that the day wasn’t just about cars — there truly was something for everyone.

Car clubs were out in full force, lined up in neat rows that made walking through the event feel like stepping through a living museum of Aussie automotive history.

And after three years of running Aussie Garage, it was a treat to catch up with so many familiar faces. We’ve met countless passionate builders and collectors over the journey, and events like these are the perfect place to reconnect and see what’s new — whether it’s a fresh restoration, a custom mod, or a brand-new project on the go.

The entire restoration was done with precision, ensuring the vehicle was fully engineered and compliant with all modifications, including the custom engine, wheels, and brake system, as licensed by the Department of Transport in Western Australia.
