On this episode, I, Dan, took a trip up to Dongara/Port Denison for the long weekend. For the past three years, we’ve made it a tradition to attend the Dongara Sprint, an exciting event featuring a short sprint through the streets and along the headland of Port Denison. Alongside the sprint, there’s a popular Show and Shine on Sunday, and plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained all weekend. The event has always been a great boost for the local community, bringing in crowds and supporting the town’s businesses.
Unfortunately, this year’s sprint was canceled just three weeks before it was scheduled to take place. With such short notice and non-refundable accommodation, we decided to make the trip anyway. My wife, my son, and I set off for the quiet coastal town, located three hours north of Perth. While the cancellation did lead to a more subdued atmosphere, we weren’t alone – plenty of other people had also come up for the weekend, unwilling to let their plans go to waste.
The cancellation wasn’t well-received by everyone in town. Determined to keep the car-loving spirit alive, some residents organized a spontaneous Cars and Coffee meet-up on Sunday morning. The turnout was fantastic, with cars from the local area and beyond rolling in for an impressive display. It was heartening to see the community come together to make the most of an otherwise disappointing situation. The dedication of the locals and the support from visitors turned the weekend into something memorable despite the cancellation.
In this episode, I take you through a walkaround of the incredible cars that were on display. From local classics to modern machines, the variety and passion on show were truly inspiring. A big thank you to the people of Dongara/Port Denison for making the best out of a tough situation.
Thanks for watching, and I hope you enjoy this look at some of the standout vehicles from the Cars and Coffee event. Here’s to hoping the Dongara Sprint will be back next year, stronger than ever!
