Inside Cruisin Automotive: One of Australia’s Best Hot Rod & Restoration Shops

If you love classic cars, hot rods, custom builds or high-end restorations, today’s Aussie Garage episode is one you won’t want to miss. We take you inside Cruisin Automotive, one of Australia’s most complete one-stop workshops for hot rod builds, classic car restorations, custom fabrication, paint, panel and electrical work. Whether you’re into Monaros, F100s, Chevs, or full custom dream builds, this shop has something for every car enthusiast.

In this tour, we explore both the assembly & electrical workshop and the panel, paint & fabrication facility — giving you an in-depth look at the craftsmanship and innovation behind some of Australia’s coolest builds.

Assembly & Electrical – Where Restorations Come to Life

We kick off the tour in the assembly and electrical area, the heart of Cruisin Automotive’s restoration workflow. This is where the team handles:

  • Suspension assembly & full body assembly
  • Electrical fit-outs including air conditioning, wiring, electric brakes & accessory installations
  • Mechanical upgrades, repairs and performance tweaks

While we’re in the shop, several standout builds are underway:

  • 325 5-Window Coupe – A stunning show car complete with Italian leather trim and electric A/C.
  • Big Chev C30 Truck – Receiving a full wiring upgrade, twin battery system and air-conditioning fit-out.
  • Coyote-Swapped Ford F100 – Running a modern 10-speed auto for next-level drivability.
  • Holden Monaro Sleeper – A clean classic featuring hidden electric A/C and a full custom interior.
  • 1950 Chevy Pickup – Upgraded with new door latches and an E-Stop electric handbrake.

And of course, there are plenty of other builds scattered across the workshop — each with its own unique spec and story.

Panel, Paint & Fabrication – Craftsmanship at Its Best

Next, we head into the panel, paint and fabrication shop — the place where the dream begins. Cruisin Automotive handles everything in-house, including:

  • Rust repairs & metal fabrication
  • Full bodywork and panel shaping
  • Custom fabrication for classic, muscle and performance cars

One of the most impressive tools in the shop is their pulse laser stripping system, capable of removing old paint, bog and seam sealer with:

  • No warping
  • No mess
  • No dust

This creates the perfect base for restorations and metal repairs — a huge advantage for high-quality builds.

Current Builds in Fabrication & Paint

  • 1973 Pontiac Firebird – Undergoing full quarter panel replacement and internal structural repairs.
  • Turnkey LSA-Powered Truck – Featuring custom radiator fabrication and big Wilwood brake upgrade.
  • 1957 Chevy – Receiving a new roof skin, mini-tubs, upgraded suspension and performance brakes.

This workshop truly has every tool, machine and skill required to build your dream car from the ground up.
